Bola 3 Light Pendant Light - Polished Chrome

The Bola is a 3 light pendant built around three 500mm-diameter spheres of sculpted clear acrylic, suspended from a polished chrome canopy and frame. Each sphere is formed from ribbon-like acrylic strips that loop and intersect to create a woven, filigree structure. The acrylic strips overlap at different angles, so light passing through the spheres refracts and reflects across the layered surfaces. Three E27 bulbs sit inside the spheres, one per globe, with the acrylic weave diffusing direct glare while still transmitting a substantial amount of light into the room.

The pendant suits dining tables, kitchen islands and double-height entrance halls where a 500mm-wide fitting can be accommodated without overwhelming the space. The adjustable drop ranges from 600mm to 1500mm, allowing the cluster to be set 700-900mm above a table surface or higher in a void where the sculptural form can be viewed from below. The three spheres are arranged in a triangular cluster on individual cables, giving the fitting visual movement when air currents shift the individual globes slightly.

The polished chrome frame and canopy provide a high-reflective metallic contrast to the matte-textured acrylic, amplifying ambient light in the room during the day and creating additional reflections when the pendant is lit at night. The woven acrylic structure casts intricate shadow patterns onto nearby walls and ceilings, particularly when paired with filament-style LED bulbs that create point-source light inside each sphere. The 2.49kg combined weight requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or a rated ceiling rose capable of supporting the load.

What bulbs does the Bola take?

The pendant takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K. Filament-style LED bulbs create the most visually interesting effect inside the acrylic spheres, as the visible filament creates defined shadows through the woven structure.

Is the Bola dimmable?

Yes, if paired with dimmable E27 bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. The pendant itself has no built-in dimming electronics, so dimmer compatibility depends entirely on the bulbs chosen.

What ceiling height is needed?

With a minimum drop of 600mm and a 500mm sphere diameter, the pendant requires at least 2.4m ceiling height to hang comfortably above a dining table or kitchen island without obstructing sightlines. For entrance halls or voids, higher ceilings allow the full 1500mm drop to be used.

How is the acrylic cleaned?

Wipe the acrylic spheres with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For fingerprints or more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable. Avoid household sprays, polishes or abrasive cleaners, as these can scratch or cloud the acrylic surface.
