Description

Small, plain and quietly effective, this is a compact spot with a single integrated LED and its driver built in. The light comes out warm rather than crisp, in a fairly tight cone, so it marks out whatever it is aimed at instead of filling the room behind it. At 7W it asks very little of a circuit and gives around 500 lumens, which is the right order of brightness for a picture, a shelf of books or the corner of a reading chair. The body is matt white with black, reading as neat hardware rather than as decoration.

We would use it on its own or repeated along a wall: either side of a bed, down a hallway, tucked into an alcove, or above a run of worktop where a pendant would hang in the way. There is no switch on the fitting itself and it is not dimmable, so it wants a wall switch or a lighting circuit it can sit on. The warm tone suits bedrooms, sitting rooms and landings, and it flatters timber, brick and painted plaster far better than a colder white would. Keep it to dry rooms indoors.

The housing is a solid little block, double insulated, and the matt surface is the part worth looking after: let it cool, then take the dust off with a dry cloth, and keep sprays and scouring pads away, since they dull a matt finish faster than dust ever does. It carries a three year warranty. We also stock the same spot in a cooler, more neutral white, and in a twin version if you want light thrown in two directions from one point on the wall.
