Description

A slim reading light: a square head on the end of a long arm, rising from a small round wall plate. The head holds an integrated LED of 3W at 3000K, a warm white that sits kindly against pale paint and bare plaster tones, and the beam is drawn in tightly so it lands where you point it rather than washing the whole room. A rocker switch sits on the fitting itself, so it can be turned on and off by hand without touching the main room lighting.

We reach for this one at the side of a bed where the table is too small to hold a lamp, or already crowded with books, a glass and a phone. Fitted in pairs either side of a headboard it gives each person their own light and their own switch. It also does quiet work beside an armchair, in a study alcove, or along a landing where you want a small pool of light rather than general brightness. The output is fixed rather than dimmable, so we would keep it as a task light and let a pendant or downlights carry the rest of the room.

The body is finished in matt white throughout, head, arm and base, and the driver is built in so nothing sits on show. It is double insulated, and made for dry rooms indoors on a standard household supply. To keep it looking right, run a dry cloth over the head and along the arm now and then, and check the head still sits at the angle you want it. It carries a three year warranty. Within the range we also stock a rounded head in place of this square one, a wider ring head, and both shapes in matt black if you want the fitting to read as a dark line against a light wall. The LED is part of the fitting, so there is no lamp to buy.
