Description

The Blazewood is a 120mm square recessed ground light built from grey-finished metal with a toughened glass lens, designed to sit flush with paving, decking or gravel. The fitting takes a single G9 bulb (sold separately) housed behind an IP54-rated seal that protects against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for year-round outdoor use in pathways, patios, driveways and garden borders.

Recessed ground lights need to be set into a solid base during installation, with the metal frame fixed into concrete, paving or a decking subframe so the top plate sits level with the walking surface. The 120mm x 120mm aperture gives enough light spread for path marking or accent lighting around trees and architectural features without creating glare at eye level. The grey metal finish blends with slate paving, concrete and natural stone.

The G9 bulb fitting accepts halogen or LED capsule bulbs up to the maximum wattage shown in the specification table. Dimmable bulbs paired with a compatible outdoor dimmer allow the light output to be adjusted for different times of evening or to reduce intensity in areas where full brightness would overpower smaller plants. The IP54 rating means the fitting handles rain and garden hose spray but is not submersible and should not be installed where standing water collects.

The Blazewood takes a single G9 capsule bulb, sold separately. G9 LED bulbs are recommended for outdoor use due to their lower heat output and longer lifespan compared to halogen equivalents. Check the specification table for the maximum wattage.

Can it handle rain and garden watering?

Yes. The IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashes from any direction, so the fitting handles rain, garden sprinklers and hose spray. It is not submersible and should not be installed in areas where water pools or where it would be fully submerged during heavy rain.

How is it installed?

Recessed ground lights must be set into a solid base such as concrete, paving slabs or a decking subframe. The metal housing is fixed so the top plate sits flush with the walking surface. Installation requires mains outdoor-rated cabling run to each fitting, typically via armoured cable or conduit buried at the required depth. A qualified electrician should carry out the installation to ensure weatherproofing and compliance with outdoor wiring regulations.
