Description
This hand painted resin figurine shows a plump brown bird standing on top of a cluster of red mushrooms, each cap dotted with white spots. The bird has fine feather texture across its body, darker brown markings on its wings and tail, and a small orange beak and feet that pick up the warmth of the caps beneath. Under the bird, one tall mushroom rises from the base, with a smaller one leaning out at its side and a tiny one tucked in at its foot, all on pale beige stems with soft ridges running down them. It stands 28.2cm tall, 11.5cm wide and 18cm deep.
At 28.2cm tall, it has enough presence to hold its own on a mantelpiece, a deep windowsill or the end of a bookshelf, yet it is compact enough to sit among books and plants on a sideboard. The warm brown and red colouring suits a country kitchen dresser, a cosy living room or a hallway console, bringing a touch of the woodland indoors whatever the season. Red and white toadstools have a fairytale feel too, so it fits just as happily into a reading nook or an autumn arrangement of pinecones and foliage.
The figurine is made from polyresin and painted by hand, with the detail carried all the way round, so the back of the bird and the far side of the caps look as good as the front. Its broad base of mushroom stems lets it stand freely on any flat surface, with no fixings needed. To care for it, dust it with a soft dry cloth or wipe it gently with a damp one, then let it dry fully. Set it on a shelf with a trailing plant and a stack of old books for an easy countryside corner, or wrap it as a cheerful gift that brings a little wildlife into someone's home.
