Description

The Bellthorpe wall light in matt brass puts a mink half shade in front of a slotted backplate, with the slots letting light through the metal as well as around the shade. It is 500mm high and 320mm wide with a shallow 140mm projection, so it suits corridors, landings and narrow stair walls where anything deeper would be in the way. The matt brass finish has a soft sheen rather than a mirror shine, which keeps fingerprints and dust less obvious. One E27 lamp rated up to 10W in LED sits behind the shade, and the wall light dims with a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer switch.

Matt brass is the warmer, lighter of the two finishes in this range, and it is the easier pick if a room already has brass or gold tone taps, handles or picture frames. Fit a pair either side of a bed for reading light that leaves the tables clear, or use one to wash light across a textured wall. In a living room it gives you a second layer of light beside the sofa, and the dimming means it can drop right down for an evening. The mink shade keeps the whole thing gentle against oatmeal, stone, olive or off white walls.

The slotted backplate and mounting are metal with a matt brass finish, and the mink shade sits over a rigid frame. Dust the brass with a dry soft cloth, following the line of the slots, and use a soft brush or a vacuum on low suction on the shade; avoid water, metal polish and solvent cleaners, which will mark a matt finish. It is a Class 1 fitting, so an earthed supply and a qualified electrician are needed, and the IP20 rating keeps it to dry indoor rooms.
