Description
The Beacon Square is a 359mm outdoor wall lantern from Kichler, built from composite materials with a bronze powder-coat finish and clear hammered glass panels on all four sides. The lantern uses a single E27 bulb (sold separately, up to 60W) housed inside a grid-style frame that references traditional craftsman and Arts & Crafts exterior lighting, scaled for medium-sized outdoor walls.
Designed for UK front porches, garage walls, conservatory entrances and covered garden pergolas, the Beacon Square carries an IP44 rating providing protection against solid objects above 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The 228mm projection from the wall and squared profile work on walls where a traditional carriage-style lantern would be too deep, and the downward light spread from the single bulb covers a porch step or doorway without spilling wide into adjacent plantings.
The composite construction resists UV degradation, salt spray and impact better than painted steel or aluminium, maintaining the bronze finish through years of coastal and urban exposure. The hammered glass texture diffuses the bulb filament or LED array, reducing glare while preserving light output. The rectangular grid dividing the glass into three horizontal bands gives the lantern a more architectural profile than plain-panelled alternatives, and the bronze finish pairs with warm brick, stone and timber cladding common in UK period and new-build properties.

Frequently Asked
What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?
IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The Beacon Square is suitable for covered porches, under eaves, pergolas and other sheltered outdoor positions. It is not rated for full submersion or prolonged exposure to direct driving rain.
What bulb is recommended?
The lantern takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. For outdoor use, a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K provides adequate light for a porch or doorway while minimising running costs. Bulbs are sold separately.
Can the hammered glass be replaced if damaged?
The glass panels are part of the lantern assembly. For replacement parts or repair enquiries, contact Kichler directly or check availability through Niori customer service.
How is the composite construction different from metal lanterns?
Composite materials resist UV fading, salt spray corrosion and impact better than painted steel or aluminium. The bronze finish is moulded into the material rather than applied as a surface coating, so chips and scratches are less visible over time.
