Description

The Beacon is a 305mm square outdoor flush ceiling light with a white composite frame and four sides of clear hammered glass. Two E27 bulb holders inside the fitting (bulbs sold separately) illuminate the hammered glass panels, which are moulded to replicate the texture of rippling water. The white composite material is rated for saltwater exposure and UV resistance, making the fitting suitable for coastal installations as well as inland residential use.

Designed for covered porches, patio ceilings, carports and entrance canopies, the Beacon sits 132mm from ceiling to underside, providing clearance for typical porch heights without dropping too far into headroom. The IP44 rating provides protection from rain splash and dust ingress in covered outdoor locations. The square silhouette and grid-pattern glass panels reference traditional craftsman and Arts & Crafts architectural detailing, pairing well with both period properties and contemporary builds where a transitional style is preferred.

The white finish is applied over a composite base that resists corrosion, fading and cracking under prolonged UV exposure. Can this be used in exposed outdoor locations?

The IP44 rating provides protection from rain splash and dust, but the fitting is designed for covered outdoor locations such as porch ceilings, carports and canopies. It should not be installed in fully exposed positions where it would receive direct rain or be subject to standing water.

What bulbs does it take?

The fitting takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, each up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for outdoor ambient lighting.

How is the white finish maintained outdoors?

The composite material is engineered for outdoor use and resists UV fading and saltwater corrosion. Wipe the white surfaces with a damp cloth as needed to remove dust or coastal salt buildup. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the finish.

Is it suitable for low porch ceilings?

At 132mm drop from ceiling to underside, the Beacon works on most covered porch ceilings with 2.2m or higher clearance. For very low ceilings where headroom is tight, check the projection against your specific ceiling height before installing.
