Description
The Bayview is a 274mm-high outdoor wall lantern in a black aluminium frame with clear bevelled glass panels and a single E27 bulb fitting. The Georgian-inspired design features a scroll-mount backplate and a tapered glazed body framed by horizontal ribs, housing one downward-facing E27 lamp socket (bulb sold separately). The IP44 rating protects against rain and dust ingress, making it suitable for year-round installation on exterior walls.
Designed for porches, front door entrances, patio walls and pathway lighting where a compact fitting is needed, the Bayview provides directed downlight that illuminates doorsteps, wall-mounted house numbers and entrance areas without overwhelming smaller facades. The 274mm height and relatively narrow profile suit terraced houses, cottage porches and garden walls where larger coach lanterns would appear disproportionate. The clear bevelled glass maximises light output while the black aluminium frame provides a neutral finish that pairs with brick, render, stone and painted timber cladding.
The aluminium construction resists corrosion in coastal and high-moisture environments better than steel-framed alternatives, and the powder-coated black finish withstands UV exposure without fading. The scroll-mount backplate references classical Georgian lantern designs but the clean lines and minimal detailing keep the overall appearance restrained rather than ornate. The E27 fitting accepts LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W, giving control over colour temperature and brightness depending on the application — warm white for residential entrances, cooler white for functional pathway lighting.

Frequently Asked
Is the Bayview suitable for coastal locations?
The aluminium construction and IP44 rating make it more resistant to salt air and moisture than steel-framed lanterns, but in direct coastal exposure regular cleaning of salt deposits from the glass and frame will extend the life of the finish.
What bulb does it take?
The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most residential installations use a 6-10W LED in warm white (2700K-3000K) for a welcoming entrance light.
Can it be fitted upside-down for upward light?
The lantern is designed for downward installation with the bulb socket facing down, which prevents water pooling inside the glass housing. Inverting it would compromise the IP44 rating and risk water ingress.
What size wall does it suit?
At 274mm high the Bayview is proportioned for smaller facades — cottage porches, terraced houses, side doors and garden walls. For larger front elevations or double-height entrances, a taller lantern in the same range would be more appropriate.
