Description

A shallow drum held close to the ceiling on an antique brass plate, this one gives a proper spread of light without dropping into the room. The shade measures 40cm across and is dual faux silk in midnight black and green olive, so the fabric reads dark from across a room and warms considerably once the lamp is lit. A single E27 lamp sits behind it, and we would choose a GLS LED here for a soft, even fill.

It suits hallways, landings, bedrooms and dining rooms where the ceiling is not high enough for a pendant on a flex, and it is one we reach for when a room wants the presence of a fabric shade without the hang. The fitting is dimmable with a compatible lamp and dimmer, which makes it simple to take a bedroom from reading light down to something quieter late on. Keep it to dry interior rooms; a steamy bathroom is not its place.

The frame is metal in an antique brass finish, aged rather than bright, and the faux silk is stretched taut for a clean, unbroken surface. To clean, switch off at the wall, let everything cool, then dust the brass with a dry duster and lift dust from the fabric with a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum, keeping polishes and damp cloths well away from the silk. It carries a one year warranty. The wider range also gives you plain universal semi flush plates in antique brass, polished chrome, satin nickel and satin black if you would rather pair a shade of your own, along with linear pendants in three metal finishes.
