Description

A shallow drum shade in silver foil hangs from a polished chrome suspension here, 30cm across, with a white laminate lining that pushes the light back down where you want it. The foil surface has a broken, leafy shine rather than a mirror gloss, so it reads as texture from across the room and never fights the bright chrome above it. Above the shade sits a slim chrome ceiling cup and a cable suspension, and a single E27 socket sits inside. We would put a GLS A60 LED in it and leave it at that.

The drop can be let out to 3.3m and shortened to suit, which makes this an easy answer over a dining table, down a stair void, or at either side of a bed where a table lamp would eat the surface. One lamp of modest output means it flatters a room rather than flooding it, so it is happiest as part of a scheme with lamps or downlights alongside, or in a hallway and landing where you want light without glare. It is for dry rooms indoors, on a standard household supply, and it will dim if you pair a dimmable lamp with a matching dimmer.

The metalwork is polished to a clean, reflective chrome, and the shade is a laminated foil over a rolled frame, light enough at under a kilo to hang from a cable without strain. Keep the foil looking its best by dusting it with a dry duster or a clean make-up brush; skip sprays and damp cloths, which will mark the surface. The chrome takes a light buff with a soft cloth when it dulls. It carries a one year warranty. The wider range runs to semi flush fittings and linear pendants in antique brass, satin nickel, satin black and white, so a hallway and a dining room can be tied together without matching exactly.
