Description

A wide drum shade in gold foil sits close under the ceiling on an antique brass body, throwing light up across the ceiling as much as down into the room. At 40cm across, the shade is broad enough to hold the middle of a room, while the short body keeps everything tucked up high. A white laminate lining keeps the light clean rather than tinted. It takes a single E27 lamp, and we would fit a GLS LED globe here.

We suggest this where a pendant would hang too low: a landing, a hallway, a bedroom with a modest ceiling, or a small dining area where you want the table lit with nothing in the eyeline. Warm metal and a bright lining give a flattering evening light in a sitting room or bedroom. It will dim with a suitable lamp and dimmer switch, neither of which comes with it. Keep it to dry rooms; a bathroom or a covered porch asks for something rated for damp.

The metalwork wears an antique brass finish, aged rather than bright, and the shade is a laminate build with gold foil outside and white inside. Dusting is usually all it asks for: a soft dry brush over the shade, a light buff on the brass, and no sprays or damp cloths near the laminate. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are bought separately, and we would keep to 20W or less.
