Description

Here is a small semi flush ceiling light sold ready for a shade of your own choosing. The plate measures 12cm across and the fitting drops only a little below it, so the lamp sits close to the ceiling while still leaving room for a shade to hang properly. The socket is the common E27 size, which is why it pairs with such a wide choice of shades, from a narrow drum to a wide coolie. Maximum lamp power is 20W, which an LED GLS bulb clears comfortably.

We reach for this where a pendant would hang too low: halls, landings, box rooms, a cloakroom, the top of a narrow stair. It suits anyone who has already found the shade they want and needs a tidy fitting to carry it, and it is just as useful when you fancy changing the shade with the seasons rather than replacing the whole light. Dimming is possible with a compatible lamp and a dimmer switch, neither of which comes with it.

The satin black finish has a low sheen that reads softer than gloss and keeps fingermarks and dust from showing at a glance. Wipe it over with a dry cloth when you dust the room, and leave polishes and sprays out of it; if the lamp has been on, give it time to cool before handling the fitting or the shade. Keep it to dry rooms indoors; damp spots such as a shower area or an open porch are not its territory. It carries a one year warranty.
