Description

Five E27 lampholders sit behind a wide faux silk drum, so the light spreads broadly rather than pooling in one spot. The frame is polished chrome, bright and reflective, and it holds the shade close to the ceiling on a short drop. Outside the fabric reads ivory pearl; inside, a white laminate lining bounces light back down into the room. At 45cm across, it is a generous width for a fitting of so little depth.

This is one we reach for in rooms where a pendant would hang too low: hallways, landings, a bedroom under a low ceiling, or a dining table in a flat. Together the lampholders give plenty of output for a main room, and with suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer the level can be taken down for the evening. We would fit LED GLS lamps here, the classic rounded shape, which sit neatly inside the shade without crowding the fabric. Keep it to sheltered indoor rooms; it is not one for a bathroom zone or a porch.

Fabric over a laminate liner does the softening, and the metal does the sparkle. Keep the chrome bright with a soft cloth, run a dry duster over the shade now and then, and switch off at the wall first; sprays and damp cloths are best kept well away from the lampholders. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included. We stock this version with the shade fitted, as shown, and bare frames from the same range for anyone choosing their own shades. The range also runs to single light semi flush frames in satin nickel, antique brass and satin black, and to linear pendants, if you would like one look carried through several rooms.

The overall height is 170mm, with the body itself at 150mm, so it stays tight to the ceiling and works well where headroom is limited.

What lamps does it take, and how many?

Five E27 lamps, up to 20W each. LED GLS lamps in the rounded A60 shape are the ones we would choose. Lamps are not supplied.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you use dimmable lamps and a dimmer matched to them. No dimmer is supplied with the fitting.

What is the shade made from?

A faux silk outer in ivory pearl over a white laminate lining, measuring 45cm in diameter by 15cm deep.

How heavy is it?

How should I clean the fabric?
