Description

A wide, shallow drum that sits close to the ceiling, this one gathers five E27 lampholders behind a single fabric-look silver leaf shade. The outer face carries a soft foiled sheen, the lining is white laminate, and the underside closes with a frosted acrylic diffuser rimmed in polished chrome, so light arrives spread and even rather than in bright points. At 50cm across it reads as a broad disc from below, low and quiet against the plaster.

We reach for it in hallways, landings and dining rooms where a pendant would hang too low to live with, and in bedrooms where a shallow ceiling height rules out anything on a long drop. The spread of lampholders across that width gives it enough output to serve as the main light in a good sized room, and with suitable lamps and a separate dimmer the level can be brought down for evenings. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from bathroom zones and anywhere steam or splashing is likely.

The fixture is polished chrome throughout, with the acrylic diffuser doing the work of softening glare from the lamps above it. Dust the shade with a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting, and wipe the chrome with a barely damp cloth once the power is off and the fitting has gone cold; solvents and cream cleaners will mark the plating and scuff the foil. It carries a one year warranty. If you would rather pick your own shade, we also stock the plainer universal fittings from this range in polished chrome, satin nickel, antique brass, satin black and white, in one, three and five light versions. Lamps are not included.
