Description

Five E27 lampholders sit inside a wide faux silk drum, 60cm across, in ivory pearl with a white laminate lining that keeps the light warm rather than grey. A frosted acrylic diffuser closes the underside, so the lamps stay hidden and the downward light is softened. The suspension and ceiling plate are finished in antique brass, an aged low shine gold that reads warmer than chrome or nickel.

We would hang this over a long dining table or in a stairwell, where a shade of this width has room to breathe and several lamps together do the work of a chandelier without any glitter. The drop can be shortened or extended, so it settles happily under a standard ceiling and still works in a tall Victorian room. It takes GLS shaped LED lamps, and it will dim if you pair dimmable lamps with a compatible dimmer, though neither the lamps nor the dimmer come with it. Keep it to dry rooms: a hallway, a lounge or a generous bedroom rather than a bathroom.

The shade is fabric over a laminate lining, the diffuser is acrylic, and the metal parts carry the antique brass finish throughout. For care, brush the fabric gently with a soft dusting brush and wipe the acrylic with a barely damp cloth once the lamps have gone cold; nothing stronger is needed. It carries a one year warranty. Antique brass runs through the wider Baymont range, so if you are lighting more than one room we can match this with the linear pendants and the small semi flush fixture in the same finish.
