Description

Five E27 lamps sit behind a frosted acrylic diffuser here, so the light spreads across the underside rather than pooling in a single bright spot. The shade is dual faux silk: antique gold on the outside, with a ruby lining that warms everything passing through it. The drop flush frame is finished in polished chrome, and at 40cm across the fitting reads as a broad, softly lit disc held close to the ceiling.

We reach for this where a pendant would hang too low: a hallway, a landing, a bedroom with a lower ceiling, or over a dining table in a flat. There is enough output for a main light in a good sized room, and with suitable lamps and a dimmer on the circuit the level comes down easily for the evening. LED GLS lamps suit the shade best, up to 20W each, and the fitting needs an earthed supply.

The frame is metal beneath its polished chrome plating, the diffuser is acrylic, and the fabric drum softens the light before it reaches the room. Keep the silk fresh with a soft brush, or the upholstery tool on a vacuum at its lowest setting; the chrome and the diffuser want nothing more than a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one, with the power off and the fitting cool. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are supplied separately. The wider range runs to bare frames ready for your own shades, in white, antique brass and satin nickel as well as polished chrome, so a matching semi flush or a linear pendant is easy enough to pick up for another room.
