Description

This is a bare fitting rather than a finished light: an antique brass ceiling plate that sits close overhead, with five E27 lampholders set beneath it, each ready to take a shade of your choosing. The plate measures 28cm across, so the light comes from a spread of points across the ceiling rather than from the middle alone. Given dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer, it will dim.

It earns its place where a hanging pendant would be in the way: a hall, a landing, a bedroom with a modest ceiling height, or a dining room where you want fabric shades sitting close to the plaster. Because the shades are yours to pick, the fitting is as quiet or as bold as you care to make it. We would fit LED GLS lamps here, up to 20W in each holder, and choose a shade design repeated across all the holders so the group holds together.

The plate and holders carry an antique brass finish, warm and slightly aged in tone, which sits happily with older woodwork and with warm white lamps. To keep it looking right, dust the plate and the holders with a dry cloth while the power is off, and keep metal polish and household sprays well away from the aged surface, as they will lift the tone unevenly. It carries a one year warranty. Elsewhere in the range we stock a compact semi flush in the same antique brass, along with satin nickel, polished chrome and satin black versions of it, plus linear pendants in antique brass for over a table. Lamps and shades are bought separately.
