Description

A wide drum shade in silver leaf with a white laminate lining, hung from polished chrome and holding five E27 lamps behind a frosted acrylic diffuser. The diffuser closes the underside, so what falls on the table below is a broad, even wash rather than separate points of glare. At 60cm across it has real presence without much height, and the chrome above keeps the look light. We reach for it when a room wants one generous fitting rather than a run of small ones.

The drop adjusts over a wide span, so it can hang tight under a high ceiling or come down deep into a stairwell. Most often it goes over a dining table, where the width suits a generous table and the diffused light keeps faces lit without hotspots. It also earns its place in a wide hallway, on a landing, or above a kitchen island. Given dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer it will dim, which is worth doing if you tend to eat late.

The metalwork is polished chrome throughout, the shade carries a silver leaf face over a white laminate interior, and the frosted acrylic diffuser closes the base. Dust it with a dry cloth; the chrome takes a barely damp one, and the acrylic should be kept away from cream cleaners and solvents, which dull it. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, well away from shower steam. It carries a one year warranty.
