Description

Five E27 lampholders gather beneath a single ceiling plate here, finished in a warm antique brass, with the flex falling as one rather than spread along a bar. Above them sits a faux silk drum shade measuring 45cm across, grey on the outside and lined in white laminate, so light spills softly through the sides and lands brighter on whatever is below. We would put plain GLS lamps in it and let the shade do the shaping.

It works best in rooms with a little ceiling height: over a dining table, in a stairwell, above a hall with a void, or in a sitting room where one small pendant would simply look lost. The drop can be set to suit the room and extends to 3.3m at its longest, so it hangs low over a table or high in an open space with equal ease. It is dimmable when paired with compatible lamps and a dimmer, both bought separately, which is worth doing where the same room serves supper and homework.

The frame is metal in an antique brass finish, mellow rather than bright, and the shade is faux silk over a laminate lining. Dust it with a soft brush or a vacuum upholstery head on its lowest setting, and give the brass an occasional dry wipe; sprays and damp cloths will only dull the finish. It carries a one year warranty. Baymont is a wide range and the same antique brass appears on the single-lamp semi flush fixture and on the linear pendants, which helps if you are matching fittings from room to room. Lamps are not included.
