Description

Three lamps sit behind a broad drum shade, finished in silver leaf with a white laminate lining that keeps the light clean and even as it falls. The polished chrome body holds that shade close overhead, so the fitting reads as a shallow disc rather than something hanging down into the room. At 40cm across it has enough presence to anchor a ceiling without crowding it, and the bright metal keeps the whole thing looking light.

We reach for this where a pendant would hang too low: landings, hallways, bedrooms and small dining rooms with ceilings on the lower side. The E27 lampholders spread light widely from a single point, and each takes up to 20W, which is plenty for a bedroom or a hall without asking for another fitting nearby. It will dim, given suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer, so the level can drop in the evening. Anyone fitting out a spare room or a rental will find it does a good deal without demanding much attention.

The metalwork is polished to a bright chrome, and the silver leaf shade catches that brightness in a softer way, with the white laminate inside doing the work of reflecting. To keep it looking well, run a dry brush or a soft vacuum attachment over the shade now and then, and wipe the chrome with a barely damp cloth once the fitting is switched off and cool. It carries a one year warranty. Elsewhere in the range there are smaller semi flush fittings in antique brass, satin nickel and satin black, along with linear pendants for a row of lamps over a table. Lamps are not included.
