Description

Three E27 lamps run in a line along a polished chrome bar, each under its own drum shade in silver leaf with a white laminate lining. A frosted acrylic diffuser with a polished chrome trim closes the base of each shade, so light leaving the underside is softened rather than bare. The shades measure 40cm across, giving the fitting presence along its length. The drop is adjustable, so the bar can hang low over a table or sit nearer the ceiling.

A linear form like this earns its keep over a long dining table, where a single round pendant tends to leave the ends of the table in shadow. We would hang it over a kitchen island or a wide breakfast bar too, and it works in an open plan room where you want a clear line of light rather than several scattered points. Dimming is possible with suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer, neither of which comes with it. We would fit LED GLS lamps here and keep them within the rated maximum.

The bar and the diffuser trims are finished in polished chrome, bright enough to pick up whatever colour sits around it, while the silver leaf outer face of the shade has a softer, slightly broken sheen. The white laminate lining keeps the reflected light neutral. Keep a dry microfibre cloth for the chrome, since polished surfaces show fingermarks sooner than brushed ones, and give the shades nothing more than a light brush; sprays and damp cloths are best kept away from the laminate. It carries a one year warranty. Polished chrome runs right through the range, including a drop flush fitting wearing the same silver leaf shade and flush ceiling versions in faux silk. Lamps are not included.

How much space does it need above a table?

The bar measures 1290mm long and 400mm wide, so allow that footprint plus a little clearance at each end for it to read as a line rather than a squeeze.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, with dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamps nor the dimmer are included.
