Baymont 3 Light Frosted Diffuser Pendant 30cm - Polished Chrome

A slim horizontal bar carries three drum shades in a row, each 30cm across, in silver leaf over a white laminate lining. Beneath each one sits a frosted acrylic diffuser with a polished chrome trim, so the lamp stays hidden and the light arrives soft rather than bare. The bar and the suspension are polished chrome, bright enough to pick up whatever else is reflective in the room. Lit, the shades give a long, low band of light instead of one bright point.

The proportions suit a dining table, a kitchen island or a long console: anywhere light spread along a length is more use than a single central drop. The suspension adjusts and can hang as deep as 2.12m, so it sits happily under a tall ceiling as well as an ordinary one. It takes E27 lamps and we would fit warm white LED GLS, one per shade, for an even wash through the diffusers. It dims too, with suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer, neither of which comes with it.

Silver leaf shades and frosted acrylic diffusers do most of the visual work, with the chrome kept plain so it does not compete. Chrome picks up fingerprints, so an occasional wipe with a dry microfibre cloth keeps it clear; the leaf shades prefer a soft brush and nothing damp. Turn the power off at the wall switch before you go near either. It carries a one year warranty. What size are the shades and how long is the bar?

Each of the three shades measures 30cm in diameter and 17cm tall, set along a bar 1.19m long and 30cm wide overall.

How far down does it hang?

The drop is adjustable from 405mm at its shortest to 2125mm fully extended, so you can set it low over a table or keep it tight to a high ceiling.

Which lamps does it take?

Three E27 lamps, up to 20W each. LED GLS (A60) is the recommended choice, and lamps are supplied separately.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you use dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer. No dimmer is supplied with the fitting.

Where should it not be used?

It is rated IP20, so keep it to dry rooms indoors; a kitchen or dining room is fine, a shower room or a covered porch is not.

How do I keep the shades looking right?

Dust them with a soft brush or a dry cloth, working lightly across the leaf surface. Avoid water, sprays and solvents, which can mark the finish and the laminate lining.
