Baymont 3 Light Frosted Diffuser Pendant 50cm - Polished Chrome

A broad drum shade wrapped in silver foil hangs from a polished chrome suspension, lined in white laminate so the light is pushed back down into the room. Three E27 lampholders sit inside, and a frosted acrylic diffuser closes the underside, so what reaches the eye is an even wash rather than bright points. At 50cm across it is a large shade with a shallow, level profile, and the suspension can be set short under a lower ceiling or run long over a stairwell.

We would hang this over a dining table, where the diffuser keeps glare off faces and glassware, or centre it in a hall or sitting room that needs one fitting doing all the work. It suits rooms with a little height to give away, since a shade this wide wants air around it to look right. With dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer, the level comes down for the evening. It is a Class 1 fitting and needs an earth, and the place for it is a dry room indoors rather than a porch or a shower room.

The shade is a foil-faced wrap over a white laminate liner, and the metalwork and diffuser trim share the same polished chrome, which keeps the whole thing reading as a single piece. Dust the outside with a soft brush, and wipe the acrylic with a barely damp cloth once the light has been switched off long enough to be cool. It carries a one year warranty. What size is the shade?

It measures 500mm in diameter and 200mm deep, with an overall body height of 370mm. Allow clear space around it, as the width is what gives the fitting its presence.

How far down does it hang?

The drop adjusts from 405mm to 3330mm, so it can sit close under a standard ceiling or hang low over a table or a stairwell.

Which lamps should I use?

It takes three E27 lamps, rated to a maximum of 20W each. An LED GLS A60 is the recommended choice and the one we would fit.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you use dimmable lamps with a dimmer suited to them. No dimmer is supplied with the pendant.

Do the lamps show through the bottom?

No. A frosted acrylic diffuser closes the underside, so the light is spread rather than seen directly, and the white laminate lining reflects it back down.

How heavy is it?

The fitting weighs 2kg complete, before lamps.
