Description

A wide, shallow drum in ivory pearl faux silk, lined in white laminate, this sits close against the ceiling and closes underneath with a frosted acrylic diffuser, so the light arrives soft and even rather than in bright spots. Three E27 lampholders sit behind the diffuser and share the work, which gives a broad, steady spread across a room from a single point. At 60cm across it reads as generous without taking up much depth.

We would reach for it where a pendant would hang too low: a hallway, a landing, a bedroom with a lower ceiling, or a sitting room where a long drop would sit in the way. It suits rooms that need general light rather than a pool over a table, and it works well as the main fitting with table lamps beside it for the evening. It will dim, given suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer, though neither comes with it. Standard GLS lamps up to 20W each are what we would fit, in warm white for softness.

The shade is fabric over a drum form with the laminate lining pushing light back down, and the ivory pearl reads warm against white ceilings rather than stark. A barely damp cloth keeps the diffuser clear; the fabric prefers a soft brush or the upholstery nozzle, and both jobs are best done with the power off and everything cool. It carries a one year warranty. The wider range runs to linear pendants in polished chrome, antique brass and satin nickel, plus compact semi flush fittings, if you want the same family elsewhere in the house.
