Description

A wide, shallow drum in silver leaf with a white lining, closed underneath by a frosted acrylic diffuser so the light comes down as a soft, even wash rather than a set of bright points. Three E27 sockets sit inside the shade, giving a good deal of output for a fitting that hugs the ceiling and takes up so little air. At 50cm across it reads as a broad disc from below, and the leaf finish catches whatever daylight is in the room during the day.

We reach for this one where a pendant would hang too low: hallways and landings, bedrooms with a lower ceiling, a small sitting room where headroom is tight. Three lamps mean it can carry a decent-sized room on its own, and with suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer on the circuit it will dim, which makes it a sensible choice in a bedroom where you want the level down in the evening. Lamps are not included, and we would put warm white LED GLS lamps in it.

The shade is a silver leaf and white laminate over a frame, with the acrylic diffuser fitted flush to the lower edge. Keep the leaf surface dry, going over it with a soft brush or a clean duster; the diffuser can be lifted off and wiped with a barely damp cloth when the lamps are cold, then dried before it goes back. It is meant for dry rooms indoors, so not a bathroom zone or an unheated porch. It carries a one year warranty. The wider Baymont range gives you plenty of related shapes if you are fitting out more than one room, including smaller flush and semi flush plates in white, polished chrome, antique brass and satin black, plus linear pendants for over a table.
