Description

A wide drum shade in faux silk sits close to the ceiling here, with a frosted acrylic diffuser closing the underside so the lamps are never in direct view. The shade measures 50cm across, which gives it real presence without dropping down into the room. Light passes through the diffuser as a soft wash downward, and the sides carry a gentle glow. Three E27 lamps sit behind it, and the fitting will dim where you pair suitable lamps with a compatible dimmer switch.

We reach for this where a pendant would hang too low: a hallway with a stair turn, a bedroom with a plain ceiling, or a landing that wants even light rather than one bright pool. The broad diffuser suits a sitting room used mostly in the evening, and it earns its place over a dining table where headroom is tight.
