Description

A wide, shallow drum sits close against the ceiling here, wrapped in a silver leaf finish with a pale lining behind it, and a frosted acrylic diffuser closes the underside so the light arrives as one even wash rather than a row of bright points. Three lamps on E27 sockets sit above that diffuser, giving plenty of output for a main room light. At 40cm across it reads as generous without hanging down into the room, and we would fit warm white LED GLS lamps in it. With suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer on the circuit it can be dimmed, though the dimmer itself is separate.

This is the fitting we reach for in rooms where a pendant would sit awkwardly low: hallways and landings, bedrooms with a lower ceiling, a snug, or a spare room that needs one good light and nothing more. The closed diffuser makes it kind to look up at, which helps over a bed or in a corridor you walk the length of daily. It belongs in dry rooms indoors, so keep it away from shower rooms, porches and anywhere steam or weather can reach the shade.

The shade is a laminate-faced silver leaf over a frame, and the diffuser is acrylic rather than glass, which keeps the whole fitting light in the hand. For upkeep, isolate the supply first and let everything cool, then lift dust from the shade with a dry brush or a lambswool duster and wipe the diffuser with a barely damp cloth, drying it straight away; no sprays or cream cleaners on the finish. It carries a one year warranty. The wider range gives you the same universal fitting on its own in polished chrome, satin nickel, antique brass and satin black, along with smaller semi flush versions and linear pendants. Lamps are not included.
