Description

A wide, shallow drum in nude beige faux silk sits close to the ceiling, lined in a paler moonlight tone that warms the light as it spreads. Beneath it a frosted acrylic diffuser closes off the underside, so the lamps read as a soft even wash rather than separate hot spots. At 40cm across it covers a good span of ceiling without dropping far into the room. It takes standard GLS lamps on E27 sockets, and with suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer the level can be brought down for the evening.

Flush fittings earn their keep where headroom is tight: hallways, landings, box bedrooms and anywhere a pendant would be walked into. Three lamps give plenty of output for a main living room or over a dining table, and the beige fabric stays quiet against a white or cream ceiling. The diffuser softens what comes straight down, which is welcome in a bedroom where a bare lamp overhead is unkind. It is one we reach for where a pendant would hang too low, and we would fit warm white LEDs in it and run them on a dimmer.

The shade is a dual faux silk, nude beige on the outside and moonlight within, and the acrylic diffuser sits flat across the base of the fitting. Care is a light job: a lint roller or soft brush over the fabric, and a barely damp cloth on the diffuser once the power is off and the lamps have cooled. It carries a one year warranty. The same Baymont fixture runs through our range in white, polished chrome, antique brass and satin nickel, with semi flush and linear pendant versions if you would rather hang shades of your own choosing. How far does it hang below the ceiling?

How do I clean the shade and diffuser?

Switch the light off at the wall and let the lamps cool. Lift dust from the faux silk with a lint roller or soft brush, and wipe the acrylic diffuser with a barely damp cloth, then dry it.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated for dry rooms only, so keep it to hallways, bedrooms, living and dining spaces rather than bathrooms or covered outdoor areas.
