Baymont 3 Light Brass Diffuser Pendant 312cm Drop - Antique Brass

A long bar carries three E27 lamps in a line, each under a 30cm gold leaf shade lined in white laminate, with a frosted acrylic diffuser trimmed in antique brass closing the underside. The metalwork is finished in antique brass, warm and a little aged rather than bright. End to end it runs just under 1.2m, so it reads as a single horizontal band of light rather than a row of separate pendants, and the drop can be taken out to a little over 3m where there is height to fill.

This is the one we reach for over a long dining table or a kitchen island, where a central fitting on its own tends to leave the ends in shadow. It also earns its place above a run of worktop, a breakfast bar or a long hall table. With dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer it will come down to a low, warm level for evenings, while at full output there is plenty to eat and work under. It suits rooms where warm metal already appears: brass ironmongery, tan leather, oak, or a plainly painted wall that wants something warm running across it.

The gold leaf outer face is paired with a white laminate lining, so the inside of the shade stays bright while the outside keeps that soft metallic glow. Wipe the acrylic diffuser with a barely damp cloth and dry it off; the brasswork wants nothing more than a soft dry cloth, no creams or scouring pads, and the power off with the lamps cool before you start. It carries a one year warranty. What lamps does it take?

Three E27 lamps, up to 20W each. An LED GLS A60 is the recommended choice, and lamps are supplied separately.

What size are the shades and the fitting overall?

Each shade is 30cm across and 17cm deep, and the fitting measures 1190mm end to end by 300mm wide.

How far down does it hang?

The drop runs from a minimum of 405mm to a maximum of 3125mm, so it can sit close under a standard ceiling or hang well down in a tall room.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you use dimmable lamps and a suitable dimmer. No dimmer is supplied with the fitting.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 and belongs in dry rooms such as dining rooms, kitchens, halls and living rooms.

How do I keep the gold leaf shades looking right?

Dust them gently with a soft dry cloth or a clean make-up brush. Avoid damp cloths and sprays on the leaf finish itself.
