Description

A slim antique brass bar holds three lamps in a row, each one under a gold leaf shade with a white laminate lining. Below the shades sits a frosted acrylic diffuser finished with an antique brass rim, which softens the output and keeps the lamps out of direct view from below. The shades are 30cm across, and the suspension is adjustable, so the bar can hang well down over a table or be shortened to sit far closer to the ceiling.

We find a linear pendant like this earns its keep over a long dining table or a kitchen island, where a single central fitting tends to leave the ends of the run in shadow and the middle glaring. Spreading the light along the length covers the whole surface far more evenly. It takes E27 lamps and we would choose LED GLS globes here, which give a broad, even glow behind frosted acrylic. Dimming is possible where the lamps and the dimmer are matched to one another. The fitting is wired for an ordinary household supply and is meant for dry rooms indoors.

The bar, the lamp holders and the diffuser rim are metal in an antique brass finish, warm and slightly softened rather than bright, and the gold leaf shade faces pick that warmth up while the white lining bounces light straight down. To clean, switch off at the wall and let things cool, then take the dust off the shade faces with a dry brush and wipe the brasswork and the acrylic with a soft cloth, keeping polishes and abrasives away from both. If you want the same look tight against the ceiling instead, the wider range runs to white and polished chrome flush fittings with faux silk, gold leaf and silver leaf shades. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included.
