Description

The Bay Shore is a 393mm outdoor wall lantern built around a polished brass frame with clear bevelled glass panels and a single E27 bulb fitting. The lantern mounts on a circular backplate 178mm wide and projects 197mm from the wall, with a traditional coach-lamp silhouette defined by curved roof lines and a turned finial top.

Designed for porches, front doors, garage entrances and pathway illumination where an IP44-rated fitting is needed, the Bay Shore pairs weather resistance with a classical profile. The bevelled glass panels are set into a brass cage that protects the bulb from wind and rain while allowing light to radiate in all directions. The polished brass finish is Kichler's Life Brite Solid Brass, which resists tarnishing and corrosion in coastal and high-humidity environments and carries a 5-year finish guarantee.

The lantern accepts any standard E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately), allowing flexibility to choose filament, LED or CFL sources depending on the desired colour temperature and brightness. The bevelled edges on each glass panel refract light into subtle rainbow highlights when the lantern is lit, adding visual texture to the output. The IP44 rating protects against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making the lantern suitable for exposed positions under eaves or porch canopies but not for direct exposure to driving rain without overhead shelter.

Frequently Asked

What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP44 protects against solid objects over 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The Bay Shore is suitable for installation under eaves, porch canopies and covered entrance areas. It is not rated for direct exposure to driving rain without overhead shelter, so avoid fully exposed wall positions on open facades.

What bulb does it take?

The lantern takes one E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately). Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to match the traditional brass and glass aesthetic.

Will the brass tarnish outdoors?

The polished brass finish is Kichler's Life Brite Solid Brass, which is lacquer-sealed to resist tarnishing and corrosion in outdoor environments including coastal areas. Kichler provides a 5-year finish guarantee on this product.

Can the glass be cleaned?

Yes. The bevelled glass panels can be wiped clean with a soft microfibre cloth and standard glass cleaner. For stubborn marks or salt deposits in coastal locations, a mix of distilled water and white vinegar works well. Avoid abrasive cloths that might scratch the brass finish.
