Description

The Batallas is a wall spotlight built from a pale natural wood wall block and a black fabric cylinder shade, finished inside in white. The body pairs wood with steel, giving the brown and black look its warmth and its crisp edge, and the shade adjusts, so you can point the light exactly where it is needed. It is 10cm long and 17cm high, and it stands 20.5cm out from the wall. It takes a single E27 bulb of up to 10W, which is not included, so the colour and warmth of the light are yours to choose. Its IP20 rating settles where it lives: indoors, in dry rooms.

Hang it beside the bed as a reading light, over a desk or a shelf, or along a hallway, and angle the shade wherever the task calls for light. The pale wood and black fabric sit easily in a calm, natural room, where the warm grain softens a plain wall. Because the light points rather than floods, a pair either side of a dressing table or a sofa gives each side its own pool of light. It suits anyone who wants a light that does a job without crowding the room. Allow for the 20.5cm projection in a narrow passage or behind a door that opens towards it.

There is no switch on the fitting itself: it is switched at the wall, so it runs from the light switch you already use. It works on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains and, as a wired-in light, is installed by a qualified electrician; the installation instructions come as a download. Packed, it weighs 0.474KG. When you choose a bulb, keep to an E27 cap at 10W or less; an LED bulb sits comfortably within that limit.
