Description

The Basketball is a matt red wall light shaped as a miniature basketball hoop with a regulation-style net and a frosted glass sphere positioned where the ball would sit. The hoop rim is 300mm in diameter, the net hangs 370mm from ceiling to base, and the fitting projects 320mm from the wall when mounted. An E27 bulb inside the frosted sphere diffuses light through the glass and between the net cords.

Designed for children's bedrooms, games rooms, home gyms and sports-themed spaces, the Basketball works as both functional wall lighting and decorative accent. The matt red powder-coated metal hoop and backplate provide colour impact on neutral walls, while the frosted sphere softens the light output to avoid glare when mounted at eye level. The E27 socket accepts any standard screw bulb up to the wattage limit, allowing brightness and colour temperature to be chosen based on room size and use.

The net is constructed from knotted textile cord in the same red as the hoop, replicating the diamond pattern and drape of a regulation basketball net. The frosted sphere sits centrally in the hoop aperture, held by the net structure, so when lit the sphere glows white against the red frame and casts small geometric shadows from the net onto surrounding walls. The 1kg weight and 320mm projection require secure fixing into solid wall construction or a suitable wall plug rated for the load.

The Basketball takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 6-10W warm-white LED for children's rooms or a higher-output bulb for games rooms needing brighter task light.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, if paired with a dimmable E27 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting itself has no dimming electronics, so dimmer compatibility depends entirely on the bulb chosen.

How far does it stick out from the wall?

The fitting projects 320mm from the wall when mounted. This allows clearance for the hoop, net and sphere but means it needs wall space where the projection will not obstruct doors, furniture or circulation.

Is it suitable for low ceilings or small rooms?
