Description
The Barranco is a round recessed downlight in a satin nickel finish, 9cm across at the bezel, with a fine brushed grain that catches the light. The body is plastic, finished in satin nickel, and the inner ring tilts so you can angle the beam towards a picture, a shelf or a worktop rather than only at the floor. It takes a GU10 lamp and is rated at 4.5W, giving 345 lumens of cool white light. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms, away from splashing water.
Because it sits almost flush with the ceiling, a run of these downlights gives a living room, hallway, kitchen or bedroom clean, even light with nothing hanging into the room. The tilting ring is where it earns its keep: aim one at a framed print, a bookcase or a stretch of worktop and the light lands exactly where you want it. Cool white suits kitchens, studies and home offices, where a crisp, clear light helps with detailed tasks. There is no switch on the light itself, so it works from your existing wall switch, and it runs on 220-240V mains. Being IP20, it belongs in dry rooms, so keep it out of the bathroom and away from the garden.
Spring clips on either side hold the body once it sits in the ceiling. It needs a cut-out 6.8cm across and 8.5cm of clear depth behind the ceiling, so check that space first. As a wired mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. Its energy class is F. For care, switch it off at the wall and wipe the bezel with a soft, dry cloth; abrasive cleaners can mark a brushed finish. With the measurements checked, a row of matching satin nickel bezels gives the whole ceiling a neat, finished look.
