Description

Barbano is a smart LED flush ceiling light built from three overlapping round drums. Each drum has black fabric sides and a white diffuser across its face, and all three are gathered on a black steel body. It measures 60.5cm long, 56.5cm wide and just 9cm high, so it sits close to the ceiling and suits rooms where a pendant would hang too low. The light source is integrated LED: three lights of 7.5W each, giving 850 lumens apiece. It is rated IP20, which means indoors and dry, so it belongs in a living room, bedroom or study rather than a bathroom or porch.

Because the colour temperature runs from 2700 to 6500K, the same fitting gives a warm, relaxed white for evenings and a crisp, cool white for reading or working. It is dimmable too. The colour-changing RGB setting adds a wash of colour for a film night or a party. All of this is controlled by app, and the light also works with a remote control, which is sold separately. We think it suits a home office, a lounge or a bedroom where one ceiling light has to do several jobs, and the layered drums give a broad spread of shape without hanging down into the room.

There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, and the app then handles brightness and colour. The shades pair fabric with plastic over a black steel body. As a wired mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. It weighs 3.835KG packed and carries energy class F. To keep it looking fresh, switch it off at the wall and dust the fabric drums with a soft, dry cloth.

Frequently Asked

Can the Barbano ceiling light go in a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which means it is for dry indoor rooms such as a living room, bedroom, hallway or home office, never a bathroom or outdoors.

How bright is this smart LED flush ceiling light?

It has three integrated LED lights of 7.5W each, and each one gives 850 lumens. It is dimmable, so you can bring the level down for a softer evening light.

Does a remote control come in the box?

No. The light is controlled by app, and it also works with a remote control, but that remote is sold separately and is not included.

What colours of light can it give?

The white light adjusts from a warm 2700K to a cool 6500K, and the RGB colour-changing setting lets you choose coloured light as well.

How big is the Barbano ceiling light?

It is 60.5cm long, 56.5cm wide and 9cm high, so it sits close to the ceiling while covering a good stretch of it.

Does it need a switch of its own?

It has no switch on the light itself. It is switched at the wall, and the app then handles dimming, colour temperature and colour.
