Description

The Bao is a wall light built around a single frosted glass globe set into a brushed gold oval backplate. The backplate measures 310mm tall by 120mm wide, with the 100mm diameter glass sphere positioned at the lower third of the oval. A single G9 bulb (sold separately) behind the frosted glass provides diffused ambient light suitable for hallways, bedrooms and living areas.

Designed for low to medium-level ambient lighting rather than task illumination, the Bao works as corridor lighting spaced 2-3m apart, as bedside reading accent in pairs either side of a bed, or as decorative fill light in living rooms where additional soft light is needed without ceiling fittings. The 120mm projection from the wall keeps the light clear of doorframes and furniture placed against the wall. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations only.

The brushed gold finish on the metal backplate has a directional grain that softens reflections and gives the fitting a warm metallic presence without the high gloss of polished brass. The frosted white glass globe diffuses the G9 bulb completely, so no visible filament or LED diode shows when lit. At 310mm tall the Bao sits comfortably between skirting and picture rail height in most residential rooms, and the oval backplate provides a larger visual anchor than a simple circular rose would offer.
