Description

A compact switched wall light finished in matt black, with a rocker switch set into the body so you can turn it on and off from where you are standing. The lampholder is left bare and ready for a small shade of your own choosing, and the short arm holds the lamp just clear of the wall. It takes an E14 candle lamp of up to 20W, and a candle-shaped LED is the sensible choice here. Fit a dimmable lamp and it will dim on a compatible control.

At 11cm across it is a small thing, and that is rather the point. We fit lights like this at bedsides, where a table lamp would swallow the whole surface, and in pairs either side of a mirror or a headboard. It works well in a reading corner, on a landing, or in a narrow hall where nothing should stand proud of the wall. The switch on the fitting itself makes it useful anywhere you want light within arm's reach, and it suits anyone who would rather choose their own shade than accept whatever came in the box.

The matt black has a low sheen that keeps reflections down, so the fitting reads as a quiet outline rather than a bright shape on the wall. Dust it with a dry duster when you go round the room, and if you have added a shade, lift it off and see to that separately. It carries a one year warranty. We would pair it with a small pleated shade in linen or stiffened card for a softer look, or leave it plain with a clear candle lamp on show. Lamp and shade are not included.
