Banyan E14 5 Light Fabric Pendant Grey 60cm - Champagne Gold

Five slim arms sweep out from a champagne gold centre and turn upward, each holding a candle lamp beneath one broad drum of faux silk. The fabric is grey on the outside, lined in white laminate so light bounces down rather than sinking into the weave. Faux silk gives the outer face a slight sheen that picks up the gold of the arms. At 60cm across, it reads as a single soft shape from below while the metalwork stays visible around the base.

We reach for this where a table wants one generous shade rather than a row of small ones: a round dining table, a wide kitchen island, or a landing that needs presence without clutter. The drop can be set short or long, so it hangs low over a table or closer to the ceiling in a hall. It takes five E14 candle lamps up to 20W each, and dimming is possible provided the lamps you choose are dimmable. Spreading the light across small lamps gives softer shadows than a single central bulb, which suits a room with little other lighting.

Construction is straightforward: a metal frame and arms in a warm champagne gold, with the shade stretched over its own former. Keep the fabric dry; a soft brush or the upholstery tool on a vacuum at low suction lifts dust, and marks are better lifted gently than scrubbed. The metal wants nothing more than an occasional wipe with a dry cloth once the power is off and the lamps are cool. It carries a one year warranty. We would keep the other metal in the room warm toned, brass or aged gold rather than chrome. Paired with clear glass candle lamps the effect is dressier; with opal ones, quieter. Lamps are not included.

How low will this pendant hang?

The drop is adjustable from 340mm to 1800mm, and the body of the fitting stands 220mm tall, so it can sit tight to the ceiling in a hallway or drop well down over a dining table.

Which lamps does it take?

Five E14 lamps, each up to 20W. We would fit LED candle lamps in the C35 shape, which sit neatly under the shade. Lamps are supplied separately.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, as long as every lamp fitted is a dimmable type. A dimmer switch is not supplied with the pendant.

How do I clean the fabric shade?

Dust it with a soft brush or a vacuum upholstery tool on the lowest setting. Avoid water and sprays on faux silk; if a mark needs attention, dab gently rather than rubbing.

Is 60cm too wide for a small dining table?

Over a table around 90cm to 120cm wide it works well, since the shade sits centrally and the light falls inside the table edge. In a tighter space we would look at a narrower shade instead.

Where can it be used?

Dry, heated indoor rooms such as dining rooms, bedrooms, living rooms and hallways. It is not made for bathrooms, porches or anywhere exposed to damp.
