Description

A broad taupe drum hangs above five polished chrome arms, each one holding a small candle lamp. The shade is a double-layer faux silk: taupe on the outside, lined in halo gold, so the light warms slightly on its way down. At 60cm across it reads as a large shade, and the spread it gives is soft and even rather than pointed. It hangs from chain, so the drop can sit high under a low ceiling or fall further where there is room above.

We reach for a shade this wide over a dining table, where it sits low enough to gather everyone in without blocking the view across. It works equally well in a wide hallway or over a low table in a sitting room, and the chain gives you the length to get it right. Fit dimmable candle lamps with a compatible dimmer and the level comes down easily for the evening. It suits rooms where a plain glass pendant would feel a little cold, and it flatters warm woods, brass accents and darker paint.

The frame and arms are metal in a bright polished chrome, and the 1.5m chain is finished to match. Keep the fabric clean with a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum on a low setting, and bring the chrome back with a dry lint free cloth; sprays and creams will dull it. Lamps are not included, and we would put in LED candle lamps here, dimmable ones if you want the control. It carries a one year warranty. No, the halo gold is the lining inside the shade. The outer face is taupe and the metalwork is polished chrome.

Will marks come out of the faux silk?

Light dust brushes away easily. For a mark, dab gently with a barely damp cloth and let it dry fully; avoid soaking the fabric or using solvents.
