Description

Five E14 candle lamps sit beneath a single broad fabric shade, so the light spreads soft and even rather than falling in points. The shade is faux silk in ivory pearl, lined in white laminate that pushes the light downwards, and the metalwork is finished in satin nickel with a quiet sheen that keeps the whole thing understated. At 60cm across it is a wide fitting and shallow in height, reading as a calm horizontal band rather than a tall column.

We would hang it over a dining table, where the width covers the surface and the lining keeps glare off the lamps. It suits a hall with height to spare, or a bedroom where a central fitting needs more presence. The chain measures 1.5m, so the drop can be set high for a walkway or sit lower over a table. Dimmable lamps will let you run the level down in the evening, though a dimmer switch is not supplied with it.

The shade is fabric stretched over a laminate lining, and the arms and chain share the same satin nickel, so nothing on it competes for attention. Keep the fabric dry when you clean it: a soft brush, or a vacuum on its lowest setting with the upholstery head, lifts dust from faux silk without marking it, and the nickel needs no more than a dry cloth passed over it. Sprays and polishes are best kept away from the shade. Dry indoor rooms are where it belongs, so a bathroom or a porch is not the place for it. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included, and we would fit small LED candles here, warm in tone to sit well against the ivory.
