Description

Five candle lamps sit on brass arms inside one deep drum shade, so the light spreads wide and low rather than gathering at a single point. The shade is faux silk in black with a white laminate lining, and it measures 60cm across, which puts it firmly in large pendant territory. The metalwork wears an antique brass finish, warm and softly aged rather than bright, and it shows at the arms and at the ceiling plate above.

A shade this wide wants a table or an island beneath it, and it earns its keep over a long dining table, where a ring of small lamps gives a softer, more even wash than a single central bulb ever manages. It suits a broad hallway too, or a sitting room with height to spare. We would reach for LED candle lamps here, and if the light is going on a dimmer, buy dimmable ones, since the dimming is done by the lamp rather than the fitting.

A metal frame and arms carry the fabric shade, and each asks for different treatment. Dust the faux silk with a soft brush or a vacuum upholstery head, and give the brass a dry cloth only, keeping polishes and sprays away from both.
