Description

Five slim arms curve out beneath one wide drum of faux silk, so the light reads as a single broad band rather than a cluster of small points. At 60cm across, the shade has the presence to hold a big table or a tall stairwell, and the champagne gold and black finishes keep it quiet rather than showy. Each arm takes a small E14 candle lamp, and the fabric softens the output into a warm, even glow.

We would hang it over a dining table first, where the width does the work and the arms spread light to the edges of a setting instead of pooling it in the middle. It suits a large bedroom too, or a wide landing with the height to carry something this size. The drop is adjustable across a good span, so it can sit low above a table or be taken up out of the way where people pass beneath. Dimming is possible, provided the candle lamps you choose are dimmable ones.

The shade is faux silk with a laminate backing, the metal arms are finished to match, and the whole thing is meant for dry rooms indoors, well away from bathroom splashes and outdoor weather. Keep the fabric dry when you clean it: a soft brush, or a vacuum on its lowest setting run gently across the surface, lifts dust without marking the silk-look weave. The metalwork wants nothing more than a wipe with a dry cloth. It carries a one year warranty.
