Description

Five slender arms sweep out from a matt black hub and rise inside one broad drum of faux silk, so the candle lamps sit within the fabric rather than on show. At 60cm across, the shade has real presence while keeping a light silhouette, and its grey outer face is lined in white laminate so the glow stays soft and clean. The contrast between dark frame and pale cloth gives the piece its character.

It suits a dining table best, where one wide shade covers the setting instead of a row of smaller lights, and it works just as well over a kitchen island or in a hall with height to spare. The lamps spread the load, so no single point glares and the light lands evenly across the table top. We would fit LED candle lamps in it and put them on a dimmer switch, which needs dimmable lamps to work properly. In a bedroom it makes a calm main light, and in an open plan room it helps mark the eating end without a screen or a change of flooring.

The arms and hub are finished in matt black, and the shade is faux silk with a laminate inner face. Keep the cloth clean with a soft brush or the upholstery tool on a vacuum, working gently around it; the black arms want nothing more than a dry cloth, and any polish or solvent should stay well away from the fabric.
