Description

Three slender arms curve out from a central stem, each carrying a candle lamp, and the whole cluster sits beneath a single shallow organza drum measuring 45cm across. The fabric is soft bronze, sheer enough for the arms to read faintly through it, and the metalwork is finished in satin nickel so the finishes play against each other rather than matching. Light passes through the organza softly and falls more openly from the base.

It suits a dining table, a wide hallway or the middle of a sitting room, anywhere a broad, low-slung shade balances the space better than a tall shape. The drop can be set short for a modest ceiling or let out generously over a table. We reach for this one when someone wants something softer than glass but with more presence than a plain fabric drum. E14 candle lamps are what it takes, and we would choose LED candles for their low heat and steady output. Where the room is on a dimmer, dimmable lamps are needed.

The frame is metal throughout, with the satin nickel finish carried across the ceiling plate, stem and arms. Organza is a light, open weave, so treat the shade gently: a soft brush or a vacuum brush head on its lowest setting will lift dust, and it is best kept away from damp cloths and sprays. Wipe the metal with a dry cloth only. It carries a one year warranty. The same three arm frame appears elsewhere in the range with faux silk shades in white, grey and black, and bare, without a shade, in finishes including champagne gold and matt black. Lamps are not included.
