Description

Three slim arms sweep out from a polished chrome centre and turn upward, each ending in a small E14 lampholder set beneath one wide organza shade in grey. The shade is 45cm across and shallow in profile, so light spreads outwards along the ceiling as much as it falls to the floor, and the sheer fabric glows softly at the sides once the lamps are lit. Chrome runs from the ceiling plate down the suspension and along the arms, keeping the whole thing bright and light on the eye.

This is a good fit above a round dining table, in a hallway with a bit of height, or in a bedroom where a single naked lamp would feel harsh. The drop adjusts to suit the room, with plenty of length available up to 1.8m, so it can sit low over a table or tuck up closer to the ceiling in a walkway. Candle-shaped LED lamps suit it best, and if you want the level under control, choose dimmable ones and pair them with a compatible dimmer. We reach for a fitting like this where a cluster of separate shades would look busy over one table.

The frame is metal in a polished chrome finish, wired for an earthed domestic supply, and the shade is organza stretched over its full width. Keep it indoors and out of steamy rooms such as bathrooms and utility spaces. For upkeep, brush the fabric lightly with a soft duster now and then, and bring the chrome back with a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one, both with the power off and the lamps cool.
