Three arms rise from a central stem in antique brass, each taking a small candle lamp, with a sheer grey organza drum gathered around them. The fabric is fine enough that the metalwork reads softly through it, giving the fitting some depth rather than a flat silhouette. At 45cm across, the shade spreads light wide and low over whatever sits beneath. The chain can be shortened or let out, so it suits a table or a room with more height to play with.

We would hang this over a dining table, where the shade sits close to eye level and the arms show faintly through the organza, though it is just as happy in a sitting room or a main bedroom. The lamps share the work between them, so you get an even wash across the fabric rather than one bright point, and the light picks up a little warmth from the brass on its way out. Fit dimmable lamps and it will run on a dimmer, which helps in the evening. Keep it to dry rooms indoors; a landing with headroom is fine, a shower room is not.

The frame is metal in an antique brass finish, warm and slightly muted rather than bright, and the shade is grey organza with the weave visible up close. Sheer fabric wants a gentle hand: a soft brush, or a vacuum on its lowest setting held just off the surface, will lift dust without dragging at the threads, and it is happier kept dry than sponged. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same arms with faux silk shades in white, grey and black if you would rather have something more solid, and the frame on its own in polished chrome, satin nickel, champagne gold and matt black for anyone fitting a shade they already own. Lamps are not included.

What lamps does it take?

Three E14 candle lamps, up to 20W each. LED candles in the C35 shape are the sensible choice and are what we would fit here.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you use dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamps nor a dimmer come with the pendant.

How far down does it hang?

The drop adjusts between 340mm and 1800mm, so it can sit tight to the ceiling or drop well down over a table.

How big is the shade?

It measures 45cm in diameter and 15cm deep, with the metal body standing 220mm tall.

How should I clean the organza shade?

Dust it with a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting, keeping the nozzle just clear of the fabric. Avoid water and sprays, which can mark sheer weaves.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 and belongs in dry indoor rooms such as dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways.
