Description

Three lamps share a single faux silk shade here, so the light lands soft and even rather than in one bright pool. The shade is a broad drum in grey, 45cm across, set on a slender polished nickel column with a matching round base. The grey is a quiet neutral that will not fight the rest of the room. A foot switch on the flex does the work, so you can turn it on without bending down.

It stands 1.6m tall, high enough for the light to clear the back of a sofa and spread across a seating area. That makes it useful at the end of a settee, beside a reading chair, or filling the awkward corner of a bay window. With the lamps working together it puts out enough to serve as the main light in a snug or a study nook. We reach for it in rooms where the ceiling point sits in the wrong place and a table lamp cannot get light to where it is wanted. It will dim, given dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer, though neither of those comes with it.

The frame is polished nickel throughout, bright and reflective, with the grey shade softening it. The build is double insulated. Keep the nickel bright with a dry cloth and no polish; the shade takes a soft brush, or the upholstery attachment on low suction if dust has settled into the weave. Dry indoor rooms suit it, so living rooms, bedrooms and landings rather than a bathroom or a covered porch. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included, and small E14 candle LEDs are what we would fit.
