Description

Three candle lamps share a single drum shade here, which gives a fuller, softer light than a single bulb manages. The shade is faux silk in nude beige, made up as a double layer of cloth, and it measures 50cm across, broad enough to wash a corner of the room rather than pin the light to a single spot. The stem and base are finished in satin nickel, a quiet grey sheen that keeps a tall lamp looking light for its size. A foot switch on the flex saves you reaching down to the base.

We would put this beside a sofa, a reading chair or the end of a bed, anywhere a table lamp would sit too low to be useful. At 1.6m the shade clears seated eye level, so you get light onto a book or a laptop without a bare lamp in view. It suits living rooms and bedrooms that already have a fair amount of neutral fabric in them, and it works well in a home office corner where overhead light alone feels flat. It will dim with suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer, though neither is supplied with it.

The satin nickel finish runs over the column and the base, and the lamp is double insulated. Dust the shade with a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum, working around the drum rather than pressing into the cloth, and keep water and sprays off the nickel; a dry cloth is enough there. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included, and we would choose LED candles in E14 for it, warm white if the room already leans towards cream and stone.
