Description

Three candle lamps sit together beneath a single faux silk shade, so the light reads as one soft pool rather than as separate points. The stem and base are finished in satin nickel, a quiet sheen that picks up lamplight without glaring back at you, and the shade above is white. A foot switch on the flex does the work, so you can turn it on where you are standing instead of reaching behind the furniture. The shade measures 45cm across, wide enough to throw light sideways into a room as well as down onto a chair.

We would stand this beside an armchair or at the open end of a sofa, where a table lamp would need a table you may not have. It reaches 1.6m, which keeps the lamps above seated eye level and out of your line of sight while you read. The three lamps give it enough output to light a corner properly, and with suitable lamps and a compatible dimmer it will dim, though the dimmer is a separate purchase. It suits dry rooms indoors, so sitting rooms, bedrooms and studies rather than a conservatory that gets damp in winter.

The metalwork is double insulated, and the fabric shade is faux silk with a light lustre to it. Keep a soft brush or the upholstery tool of a vacuum for the shade, and use a dry cloth on the nickel; sprays and damp cloths do fabric shades no favours. Unplug it before you change lamps and give them a moment to cool first. It carries a one year warranty. We would fit LED candle lamps here, which stay slim inside the shade and keep the running cost down. Lamps are not included.
